We are in full turtle nesting season on our coast. If you see turtle tracks or see one coming out of the sea onto the beach, don't disturb it, don't touch it, don't blind it, and call 112 immediately to activate the established protocol and protect the nest. Eggs have already been laid in Arenales del Sol (Elche) this summer, and this may happen along the entire coast in the coming weeks.
Karetta turtle (Tortuga Boba) in Torrevieja
This type of animal has a special program to protect the species in the Valencia Community, and finding such a turtle activates a protocol designed to protect and care for it. Despite the state of alert we are in, the protocol for the dumping of sea turtles and cetaceans is still in effect in the Community of Valencia by calling 112. However, transports have been kept to a minimum, and the first assessment is being carried out by the Environmental Protection Department of Torrevieja City Council.
