White and Red Fiesta in Guardamar: Polonia celebrated Independence Day lavishly!
This past Sunday, November 9, 2025, the sunny town of Guardamar del Segura near Alicante became the heart of the Polish community. A record number of Poles - some 250 people - met in the Reina SofÃa Park to celebrate Poland's National Independence Day together in a warm and moving atmosphere.
The event, organized by the Hispola Association together with the Humandoc Foundation, began punctually at 2:00 p.m. A ceremonial touch was provided by the joint singing of the National Anthem, which set the tone for the entire meeting. Then the real Polish fiesta began: in accordance with the idea of sharing, the participants sat down to a shared, lavishly set table. Thanks to the generosity of the attendees, delicious Polish dishes and baked goods reigned supreme on the plates, a wonderful testament to the strength of the community.
The organizers took care of numerous attractions for everyone. For the youngest there was a face-painting corner, as well as creative games and educational games, including patriotic coloring books and contests related to Polish history. Adults could test their knowledge and language skills in two exciting contests:
Dictation: the spelling champion, who won the title, was Mrs. Renata Gogolewska.
Polish Gwar competition: Teams presented the linguistic diversity of the regions, proving the richness of Polish culture.
The undoubted novelty and star of the event was the diverse musical setting, which warmed up the atmosphere. Talented artists performed on stage:
Patrycjusz Nyga, the duo Arkadiusz and Szymon, Arleta Slomkowska (who also led the event) and her band Arleta & Kris, and the energetic Wypas Band with Andrzej Wypasek. The music, ranged from rock to disco polo rhythms. The joint celebration and singing continued until around 7pm.
This highly successful picnic, which was already the fourth meeting of the Polish community in Guardamar, once again proved how strong and close-knit the Polish community is in the Alicante region. One can already confidently look forward to the next, equally joyful, white and red meetings.
The task was co-financed as part of the Senate of the Republic of Poland’s care for the Polish community and Poles abroad in 2025.
