Day of Polonia and Poles Abroad - a celebration of those who connect two worlds
The same May 2 is also a holiday for those who, although they live far away from Poland, carry it in their hearts every day. The Day of Polonia and Poles Abroad is a tribute to the millions of compatriots living around the world.
The holiday was established on the initiative of the Polish Senate in 2002 and aims to honor the role of the Polish community in maintaining national traditions, language and culture. Poles in exile not only support each other, but also promote a positive image of Poland in the international arena.
For us in Spain, it's a good time to count, meet, laugh together, reminisce and maybe.... eat pork chops. We are living proof that Poland does not end at administrative borders. Poland is us - regardless of the zip code.
