J. Brahms finally discovered in Torrevieja - An exquisite collaboration between masters I.Palomares and F. Fierro with OST

Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) went down in music history as one of the most important and greatest German composers. He is considered a classic of Romanticism. He wrote works that represent virtually every musical genre except opera. In the program of the concert, which closes another - repertoire-wise and performance-wise - extremely attractive concert season, the Torrevieja Symphony Orchestra treated the audience to no small spiritual feast with the performance of two masterpieces by J. Brahms, which, surprisingly, were heard for the first time in the Auditorio Internacional hall. On this special Brahms evening, the artists showcased their talents accompanied by the Torrevieja Symphony Orchestra. And so pianist Francisco Fierro and conductor maestro Ivan Palomares introduced the audience to a world of deep reflections and emotions, melding the beautiful sounds of the piano with the truly passionate sound of the orchestra.

The two artists and the orchestra musicians, with a perfect feel for Brahms' drama, brought out the deepest layers of saturated colors from his monumental Piano Concerto No. 1 in d - minor, Op. 15, with superb interplay of themes and intertwining motifs. However, before Fr. Fierro became the main character of the performance, the orchestra under the baton of I.Palomares, with a truly majestic introduction, introduced the soloist to the atmosphere of the 1st movement - Maestoso. Further on, the artists together continued the narrative spun by sound, where one chapter flowed from the other.

With great taste and style, the performers presented the drama of this movement, demonstrating bursts of energy, brilliance and virtuosity. The second movement, Adagio, on the other hand, was dominated by true lyricism, pure elegance and beauty played with a large dose of expression and romantic elation and reverie. The artist entered the final Rondo with confidence, perfectly dosing the dynamics. Rondo, is a true display of the soloist's technical abilities. With his interpretation, Fr.Fierro proved excellent technical preparation, musical sensitivity and excellent physical condition. In an exhilarating transfer of energy and vitality, the soloist engaged in a dialogue with the orchestra, exchanging lively themes and engaging in moments of brilliant quasi improvisation. The soloist's sensitivity and precision were crucial, and in the the effect of the interpretation of the Piano Concerto became a moving experience for the performers and the audience. The excellent pianist Francisco Fierro bid farewell to the audience with Fr. Schubert's miniature "Moment Musical" as an encore.

Another monumental work by J.Brahms is Symphony No. 1 in C minor, Op. 68. The composer, fearing that his symphony might seem inconspicuous in comparison with the symphonies of the already acclaimed Beethoven, "scheduled" work on the work for as many as ...... 21 years. Brahms' fear led to the creation of this masterpiece, admiringly referred to by many as Beethoven's 10th symphony.

The orchestra's musicians gave a display of truly Brahmsian playing, full of intensity-saturated sounds and excellent sound in all sections. The orchestra executed its parts precisely, very selectively and extremely dramatically, and the greatest asset of the performance was the internal consistency of the sound. With its interpretation of Brahms' Symphony, the orchestra conveyed a lot of emotion, but also space for contemplation, thoughtfulness and reflection. Particularly the second movement was a kind of discharge of tensions. The dynamic nature of the third movement anticipated somewhat the awesomeness of the Finale, which turned out to be a winning celebration of all that had come before.

OST's premiere interpretations of the works of J.Brahms, featuring Ivan Palomares I Francisco Fierro, I listened to with great joy and pleasure. The performances should be considered a great artistic success of the orchestra, and it is appropriate to wish myself and the audience more frequent encounters with similar musical attractions.

The warm ovation after the concert proved that we also like to go with the music to where it's a little darker, maybe a little harder and more serious, but still wonderfully beautiful.
