The Inmaculada Concepcion Church in Torrevieja will host a concert of organ music on Sunday, June 9, at 6:30 p.m., performed by renowned Polish organ virtuoso Marek Stefanski, professor at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Krakow. This will be the third performance by this Krakow-based artist in the city's central temple, which is its architectural symbol. This time the recital will be combined with a fundraiser for the ongoing renovation of the historic baroque organ at Orihuela Cathedral.
Marek Stefanski is one of the most active and recognizable Polish organists. His concert tours cover most countries in Europe, Asia and the Americas. In 2016, he was the only European to represent the Old Continent at the "Five continents - five organists" festival in Seoul, South Korea. From 1996 to 2007 he was the organist of St. Mary's Basilica, the main church of Krakow. He is the author of numerous recordings for CD, radio and television, and a juror of international music competitions. In addition, he is the founder and director of the Podkarpackie Organ Festival, whose tradition dates back more than three decades. For the past two years, he has been regularly visiting the Costa Blanca with his family, discovering the virtues of the organs located in the churches of Torrevieja for concert purposes.
In the programs of concerts performed here promotes music by Polish composers, especially early music, presenting it in the context of works by masters from other countries, including Spain. The same will be true of the June concert, when, under the fingers of Marek Stefanski, the exquisite, though not yet fully completed in construction, organ of the Inmaculada Concepcion church will sound the music of the early eras by German, Polish and Spanish composers.
Co-organizer of the concert, in addition to the Inmaculada Concepcion parish in Torrevieja, is the ARS PRO ARTE Foundation for the Promotion of Culture and the Arts in Krakow.
We warmly encourage Poles living and visiting at this time Costa Blanca to attend the concert. Each time it is an opportunity not only to experience music of the highest creative and performance quality, but also to meet each other and spend a Sunday afternoon in the beautiful architecture and space of the main temple of the city of Torrevieja.
