On December 15, 2024, within the historic walls of Baluarte del Duque in Santa Pola, a unique event will take place, gathering Poles from various parts of the Costa Blanca. At 11:00 am, a ceremonial gala will begin, during which awards will be presented to the winners of the photography contest "Pole on the Costa Blanca." This event will be an opportunity to recognize Polish achievements and collectively celebrate the lives and successes of compatriots who, for years, have made their place on Spanish soil.
The exhibition accompanying the gala will showcase the winning entries, depicting the everyday lives of Poles on the Costa Blanca. These photographs not only document the beauty of the region but also reveal the passions, challenges, and stories of those who have chosen to settle in southern Spain. They are not just stories of sunny beaches and charming streets but also of determination, entrepreneurship, and integration into the local community.
The gala in Santa Pola is not just a celebration of photographic art but also a unique opportunity for Poles to meet, exchange experiences, and establish new connections. This event symbolizes the increasingly strong bonds Poles are forging with Spanish society, bringing a fresh burst of energy to local initiatives and strengthening the presence of the Polish community in the region.
“This event is not only an opportunity to admire beautiful photography but also to reflect on what life as an emigrant means and how Poles enrich the local culture,” says Aleksandra Kmak-Pamirska from the HumanDoc Foundation, which co-organizes the event. She adds, “This celebration will remind us that behind every photograph lies not just the talent of the photographer but also a personal story and the drive to build a community on the Spanish coast.”
