Explore Spain through the lens of cinema
The Fantastic Worlds of "Game of Thrones" and Spain
The second episode of the series "Explore Spain Through the Lens of Cinema" will take us to locations featured in the TV series Game of Thrones. Thanks to its castles, palaces, and spectacular landscapes, Spain has become one of the key filming locations for Westeros.
Game of Thrones fans will surely recognize places like the Alcázar in Seville, which served as the Palace of Dorne in the series, or Dragonstone—actually the Basque island of Gaztelugatxe.
What to see?
The Alcázar in Seville: The palace captivates visitors with its rich Arabic ornamentation and gardens. It’s the perfect place to get a feel for the atmosphere of Dorne.
Gaztelugatxe (Basque Country): An island with a hermitage at its summit, connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway. Climbing the 241 steps is an adventure in itself! Zafra Castle (Guadalajara): The Tower of Joy from the movie, the setting for one of the series’ most thrilling scenes.
