Tour Spain in the footsteps of cinematography
In addition to its beautiful landscapes, Spain is also the scene of many iconic film productions. For years, filmmakers have chosen the country as the perfect backdrop for westerns, adventure blockbusters or fantasy films.
In our series of articles, we will take you on a journey through the places where the magic of cinema meets the real beauty of Spain.
Deserts and westerns - the Wild West Trail in Spain
In the first episode, we will visit southern Spain - a paradise for lovers of westerns.
Did you know that Sergio Leone's iconic spaghetti westerns, such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, were filmed not in the United States, but in Spain? The Tabernas desert, located in the province of Almería, perfectly pretended to be the American Wild West thanks to its rugged landscape.
Worth visiting:
Mini Hollywood in Tabernas - a theme park with original movie sets. Here you can feel like a cowboy and take part in shows straight from westerns.
Sad Hill Cemetery (Burgos) - the restored site of the final scene from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
The Tabernas Desert was also the setting for Lawrence of Arabia and Indiana Jones. It is a must-see on the map for any movie fan.
