!!! Ah, what a.... Concert !!! "Carmina Burana" in Torrevieja
This time only one course, but what a course...With the auditorium of the Auditorium Internacional filled to capacity - "Carmina Burana" - Carl Orff's (1895-1982) most famous cantata, based on medieval texts that celebrate the revelries, pleasures and delights of the clergy of the time and a life free of worries, providing a stark contrast to the prevailing norms and concepts. Orff's work has been included among the works of classical music, and despite the large performance apparatus, undoubtedly posing certain performance difficulties, it is extremely popular with both listeners and performers. The orchestra, choirs and soloists transport the audience to a strange world that stimulates all the senses, reminding them of the inevitability of fate and the dependence of human fate from the whims of fortune.
El Instituto Municipal de Cultura "Joaquin Chapaprieta" presented a performance by a magnificent ensemble of performers that contributed to the success of yesterday's concert. the Symphonic Orchestra de Torrevieja, under the baton of guest maestro Armando Bernabeu, captivated the audience, condensing vivid emotions and staying true to the music throughout the cantata. Power, energy, rhythm, intensity - music in its purest form - filled the auditorium with breathtaking sounds and sonic textures.
Choirs; Orfeón Crevillentino - Dir. Isabel Pulg, Escuela Coral Municipal Torrevieja, Coro del Puerto de Alicante and Coro ORFF - Dir. Selena Cancino, Coral Francisco Vallejos - Dir. Belén Puente, all under the care of Selena Cancino, flawlessly fulfilled their key role. More than 200 voices provided harmonious and consistent sound, exemplary intonation and beautiful expression. The breathtaking beginning of the work "O Fortuna," with its exuberant energy, gave the cantata a powerful boost, maintaining its brilliance and deep sensitivity until the very end of the work. It was a performance of which choir members and their directors can be immensely proud.
The soloists also have reason to be pleased. Soprano Rocio Martinez's solos, with just the right amount of emotional restraint, were particularly beautiful in the parts of "Amor volat undique" and "In Trutina." The soprano impressed with her beautiful voice in the middle register, although she also excelled in the high notes. El tenor José Manuel Delicado shone with great expression, excellent emission and very good voice projection in "Olim Lacus Colueram." Baritone José Manuel Dias, among others in "Omnia Sol temperat" and "Circa una Pectora," demonstrated incredible vocal talent in all registers, especially impressing with his high notes. The soloists were truly phenomenal, and it's hard to imagine a better trio in "Carmina Burana."
The entire performance apparatus, with guest conductor Armando Bernabeu on the conducting podium, displayed a wide range of sound, musical dignity and great interpretive energy. At various times, each section shone, demonstrating its fantastic expressive capabilities. Particularly noteworthy was the tonal balance achieved in the most dramatic moments, combined with Director Bernabeu's control over the whole and skillful modulation of dynamics and tempo. In short, the performance of "Carmina Burana" at the Auditorio internacional by the Torrevieja Symphony Orchestra, united choral ensembles and soloists under the baton of maestro Armando Bernabeu was a truly remarkable event and a true artistic experience. Not surprisingly, the audience begged the Finale of the work as an encore.
