Authorities in Torrevieja, are again surprising their residents with an innovative approach to improving the city's infrastructure. Located in the center of the city, the plaza, commonly known as "La Ermita", will soon have a new attraction - an outdoor sports field designed to provide a safe space for sports and games for the local community, especially young people.
Federico Alarcón, councilman-secretary of the Local Government Board of the Torrevieja City Council, announced this morning the award of a simplified open procedure to the company GRUEXMA S.L.U. for the construction of the sports field at Plaza de Oriente. The total cost of the investment is 162,393 euros.
The contract with the contractor includes the construction of a sports field in an area designated in the master plan as a public space. The aim of the project is to improve the city's sports infrastructure, especially in open spaces where there is a lack of facilities for children's games.
The sports field will measure 21 meters in length and 7 meters in width. It will be located on the slab of the underground parking lot, where there is currently a garden with a layer of soil and vegetation. This layer of topsoil will be removed and a raised floor will be created to accommodate the sports field. In connection with that the court will not be supported on natural soil, but on a 50-centimeter slab. The court will be bounded by a concrete wall, and its surface will be made of synthetic grass.
In addition, as part of the contract, the contractor company has agreed to extend the warranty period for the work by 30 months and reduce the completion date by 40 calendar days.
The implementation of this project will not only increase the availability of space for sports, but will also contribute to social integration in the city. Torrevieja residents can look forward to the opening of the new sports field in the Plaza de Oriente in the near future, which will certainly be another milestone in the development of the city's infrastructure and social life.
This central plaza, popularly known as "La Ermita," will have a landscaped space that will allow for the safe practice of games and sports in general, guaranteeing its functional and urban integration in this public space, which is very popular among local youth.
