Chamber concert performed by Polish Women Artists at the Church of Inmaculada Concepci贸n
Organ and organ chamber music, although often associated with church liturgy, conceals an extraordinary power that can delight and fascinate listeners. Similar concerts are not only a musical experience, but also a spiritual and emotional experience. The majestic sound of the organ and the human voice, combined with the space in which the music resounds, creates a unique atmosphere that cannot be compared to other concerts.
In the Inmaculada Concepci贸n church in Torrevieja, on the last Saturday of May, the sounds of a charity concert rang out, with proceeds going towards the repair of the church's roof. The gathered audience listened to the interpretations of outstanding artists from Krakow - soprano Marta Zagata Bugajska and organist Agnieszka Radwan Stefa艅ska, whose interpretations gave the evening a unique character. The audience listened to the performances in great concentration, in an atmosphere that combined spirituality, emotionality and perfection of performance. Thanks to the program, constructed with care for the specific atmosphere of the concert, the performances were perceived as a musical story, prayerful in nature, to which the artists brought a large dose of emotionality, sensitivity and individuality.
And what kind of repertoire did the concert performers treat the international audience in Torrevieja with?
Virtually the entire program of the concert was devoted to the performance of music with religious and contemplative themes. In the famous compositions "Ave Maria", - (Bach-Gounod and Fr. Schubert), "Ave Verum Corpus" - (W.A. Mozart) and "Panis Angelicus" - (C.Franck) , soprano Marta Zagata-Bugajska presented herself as a singer of a great-sounding soprano voice, demonstrating at the same time great emotionality and performance sensitivity. Her interpretation of all the songs, as well as G.F. Handel's contemplative Aria "Lascia chio pianga," was thoughtful, convincing and distinguished by her stylistic mastery.
Within the framework of the presented concert, Agneska Radwan Stefanska impressed with the right drama, and performances of organ pieces: "Prelude and Fugue in C Major" (J.S.Bach), "Air and Gavotte" - (S.S. Wesley), "Elevaci贸n" - (A. Guilmant, and "Meditation" - (E.L. Ashford), confirm exemplary mastery of the technical workshop. The interpretation is also extremely interesting in terms of expression, with an ingenious grasp of space and registration, matching the character of the individual pieces.
The performance of songs "The Victor's Return" - (James H. Roger's) - an American composer of more than 550 songs and their arrangements for organ, as well as a Polish feast song - "G贸ralu czy ci nie 偶al", arranged by Krzysztof Duda, proved to be a wonderful ending to this unique chamber concert.
Marta Zagata Bugajska and Agnieszka Radwan Stefanska guaranteed a masterful level of performance, offering listeners a concert refined and saturated with a wealth of sound colors. It is a true art to be able to extract from a relatively small organ, a great richness of sound and color, and match it to the human voice. We witnessed an evening dominated by the fullness of concentration, spiritual depth and beauty enchanted in sounds, for which the artists deserve a special round of applause. In gratitude, the artists performed St. John Paul II's favorite song 'Barka' as an encore.
