Culinary customs of spain
Around 11 a.m. they move on to what is known as “el almuerzo” - the second breakfast, which they eat at the bar often in the form of tapas, pincho de tortilla and obligatorily with coffee. Lunch is between 1pm and 4pm, which they celebrate by going to a restaurant for “menú del dia”. Later, they are entitled to an afternoon snack called “la merienda” and, at the end of the day, dinner, which is immediately a gathering with family or friends. This last meal, “la cena”, is often eaten late in the perception of Poles, around 9 p.m. and the dishes served then are definitely not light cuisine.
Spanish culinary habits reflect their culture and are part of the Spanish way of life. Spaniards focus on eating together, enjoying traditional lunches in restaurants, original tapas at second breakfast, and the pleasure of an evening gathering over a hearty dinner.
