Epiphany is one of the most anticipated events in Spain, and Torrevieja and La Mata are attracting more and more locals and tourists year after year eager for this unique atmosphere. This year the organizers have prepared a rich program that will delight both children and adults. Check out what awaits you in these two seaside towns!
King's Preparations - the Pazis and the Royal Mail
From January 3 to 4, the Plaza de la Constituci贸n in Torrevieja will be home to the royal pawns and letter carriers. From 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., children will have the opportunity to personally deliver their letters to the Three Kings. If you're in La Mata, you're invited to Encarnaci贸n Puchol Square on January 4, where the royal post office will be open from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
Spectacular arrival of the Three Kings in Torrevieja
on January 5 at 5:30 p.m., the majestic procession of the Three Kings will arrive at the Real Club N谩utico in Torrevieja, where the city's mayor, Eduardo Dol贸n, and Christmas councilor, Rosario Mart铆nez, will be waiting for them. Their very arrival in royal style - by sea - promises a spectacle that will long be remembered by residents and visitors.
The march through the streets of the city - magic and tradition
The traditional procession of the Three Kings will begin on the Vista Alegre promenade, near the casino. Kings Melchior, Casper and Balthazar will board richly decorated carriages and, accompanied by some 400 participants, walk through the streets of the city. The route passes through Clemente Gos谩lvez Street, Ram贸n Gallud Street and Caballero de Rodas Street, ending at the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
Adoration of the baby Jesus will be held at the site, during which King Melchior will address moving words to those gathered.
The procession will be enriched by various attractions:
- the King's mail for children who will want to forward their letters at the last minute.
- the Hebrews with donkeys, who will distribute flags to welcome the Epiphany.
- Spectacular performances, including a ballet group with illuminated stars and three orchestras accompanying the royal coach.
- The appearance of the figure of Herod, accompanied by a squadron of Roman soldiers.
- the Security Forces, who will open the procession, emphasizing its special rank.
Zone for people with reduced mobility
With those with mobility limitations in mind, organizers have prepared a special zone on Ram贸n Gallud Street, near the intersection with Mar铆a Parodi Street. This will allow everyone to comfortably enjoy the march of the procession.
La Mata - a smaller but equally magical retinue
Torrevieja won't be the only one celebrating in grand style. In La Mata, the procession will set off at 6:30 pm from the avenue of Europeans. The route goes through Mayor Street all the way to the parish of Our Lady of the Rosary. Although the procession is smaller, just two carriages, its intimate nature gives it an unusual charm.
The Epiphany processions in Torrevieja and La Mata are not only a beautiful tradition, but also an opportunity to celebrate together with family and friends. The wonderful atmosphere, colorful performances and the magic of the holidays will make you feel like a child waiting impatiently for his or her dream gift.
See you in Torrevieja and La Mata!
