“Musical memories from the big screen” - KRZYSZTOF PSZONA in Santa Pola
There are concerts, remembered for years. There are artists who are awaited with bated breath. Finally, there are musical evenings, during which the audience participates in something absolutely unique. Just such turned out to be Tuesday's performance (October 07) at the “Musical Evening of Memories from the Big Screen,” organized by the Hispola Association, in an extremely charming place - the castle in Santa Pola (Alicante). The hero of the evening Krzysztof Pszona is a personality well known as; a composer, arranger, pianist and producer working with some of the biggest stars of the Polish and world music scene, and music director of such national television programs as “The Voice” and “I've Got Talent”.
And the feast began. The entire evening was devoted, with one exception, to Polish film music. From the very first moments it was known that the evening would be more than a simple concert. Full of poetry and lyricism interpretations of music from films: “The Promised Land” or “The Doll,” are a demonstration of the artist's great ability to convey deep feelings through sound. Other themes of Polish screenplays were equally attractive, and in them Krzysztof Pszona, the pianist, demonstrated his ability to build tension, guiding the audience through the thicket of motifs to give a moment of respite in lyrical moments in the form of crystal clear music. The artist does not impress with his piano virtuosity, but with his playing he is able to create a specific atmosphere of intimacy and concentration. Musical themes from the films; “How I Unleashed World War II”, “The Forty-Year-Old”, between their vitality and melancholy were like a swirling panorama of the Polish landscape as seen through the eyes of the composers' imagination, while Krzysztof Pszona resurrected in them all those qualities that testify to their unique character. Excerpts from: “Janosik”, “Black Clouds” and “The Adventures of Mr. Michael”, in which individual elements were executed with architectural precision, the artist took care of every detail, every chord, every harmony, subordinating all these components to the overriding musical idea.
After listening to an intense dose of musical poetry, it was time for music, the emotional pinnacle of the work of musical classics of world cinema. Just to mention three names, the entire world of cinema enthusiasts bows low with great respect, admiration and awe. E. Morricone, H. Zimmer and J. Williams are the personalities that Krzysztof Pszona mentioned, placing in the program of his performance a bundle dedicated only to J. Williams' film music, which was represented by tracks from: “Schindler's List” and “The Mission”.
Krzysztof Pszona, with his piano interpretations, led the audience through the meanders of varied forms with the logic and sensitivity of a great narrator, allowing the music to breathe freely, develop at its own pace and move with ease from heroic calls to pensive lyrical sighs. In a word, it was an evening that was not just enjoyed. It was a concert that delighted. The numerous audience gave the artist a standing ovation, receiving an encore in return, of course. Congratulations !!!
