Music in the Park with “Melodís of Summer”

Entertainment/September 08, 2025

Today I'll share a reflection from a concert during which the warm air vibrated in symbiosis with ear-pleasing sounds. Even the sun, which had slept behind the clouds all day, brightened with its shy glow the Eduardo Gil Rebollo Park in La Mata, during a chamber concert organized by the Orquesta Sinfonica Torrevieja. Saturday's concert was marked by artists who offered the pleasure of listening to a concert called “Melodies of Summer” in an intimate atmosphere. The protagonists of the highly successful performance were three ladies; Lucia España, Paloma Valero y Paola Ferrández - and, with great discretion, the percussionist Modesto Abenza, who accompanied them, - artists recognized in the local musical community, as well as outside the with it.

The superb vocalist Lucia España impressed with her warm and vibrant voice, giving the performed melodies an almost salon-like grace and fleeting sensuality. Tracks:

“Y cómo es el', ”Procuro olvidarte“, ”El gato bajo la lluvia“ were not only beautiful melodies in which the phrase flows with logic and calm, but interpretations with a noticeable addition of emotional charge.

Violinist Paloma Valero performed the solo pieces with truly impeccable taste. Her playing of ”Intermezzo de Mascagni,“ ”Barbero de Sevilla,“ and ”Cinema Paradiso“ captivated with noble songfulness and fullness of sound, while also exposing a touch of reverie and contemplation.

Pianist Paola Ferrandez with a flair worthy of a true chamber music artist was not just an accompanist. Her instrument created an excellent dialogue with the singer, violinist and percussionist. In the works: ”Cómo zarpa el amor “de J.M.Cano, ”Que bonito“ de R. Flores, ”Who wants to live forever\" de E. John / T. Tice the quartet charmed with a dialogue of equal partners, who listen to each other with respect and attention, spinning short musical stories together. Seemingly humble miniatures became more than a series of charming compositions in their interpretation. The artists wove a narrative out of them, creating real pictures painted with sound. As an encore, they gave the audience another moment of respite and reflections proving that music does not always have to shout to be heard.

The musical evening in La Mata Park turned out to be an encounter with music and artists who, with their sensitivity and talent, made the sounds of scores recorded at different times alive, pulsating and real again. It was an experience that confirmed the audience's belief that the chamber concerts in the parks of Torrevieja are an absolutely unique place where music is not just played. It just is and breathes with us.
