New public transportation network in Torrevieja: Eight lines will connect the entire municipality
The Torrevieja City Council and the transportation company AVANZA have unveiled the official plan for the new public transit network. The modernized system, which will begin rolling out this summer, will consist of eight lines designed to provide comprehensive connections between residential areas, neighborhoods, hospitals, shopping districts, sports facilities, and beaches.
The new transit system was designed to make it easier for both residents and the many tourists visiting the city to use the buses. The clear map allows users to quickly familiarize themselves with the routes, main stops, and transfer options between different areas of the municipality.
Intuitive layout and main traffic flow
The map features a modern and easy-to-read design. Each of the eight lines that make up the new transit network is marked with a different color and has its own route map, which makes planning daily trips much easier.
The entire network was built around the main transportation corridor located on Doctor Gregorio Marañón Avenue. This is where most of the routes branching out to various areas of Torrevieja begin, ensuring optimal access to key public facilities, healthcare centers, stations, and beaches.
One circular route and seven routes connecting the entire municipality
The new transportation network will include the following routes:
- Line C (Circular): It will serve the city center, connecting Doctor Gregorio Marañón Avenue with the Bus Station, the Municipal Sports Center, and the Acequión Health Center. This will be the line with the highest frequency, designed primarily for quick travel within the city center.
- Line 1: It will connect the University Hospital (Hospital Universitario) with the neighborhoods of Los Altos, Punta Prima, and Rocío del Mar.
- Line 2: It will provide a direct connection between the University Hospital and Los Balcones and Lago Jardín.
- Line 3: It will connect Doctor Gregorio Marañón Avenue with Desiderio Rodríguez Street, Mar Azul, and the University Hospital.
- Line 4: It will connect the city center with the shopping centers, La Torreta, and the La Siesta Health Center.
- Line 5: Will extend service from downtown to San Luis, also passing through commercial districts and the La Siesta Health Center.
- Line 6: It will connect the city center with the Municipal Sports Center, Quirón Hospital, the International Auditorium, and the La Mata Health Center. In addition, this line will operate special trips to the local market (mercadillo) and to the Auditorium on days when events are held there.
- Line 7: It will connect Doctor Gregorio Marañón Avenue with Ramón Gallud Street, París Avenue, and the town of La Mata.
- Line 8: It will connect downtown Torrevieja with Cabo Cervera, the bus station, and La Mata, significantly improving transportation along the northern coast.
Modern Solutions and Digital Accessibility
The new map shows the exact locations of all stops, each of which has a unique identification code, as well as a complete list of routes in both directions.
The information is available in both traditional print and digital formats. The maps feature a QR code that allows passengers to quickly access real-time schedule updates, customer service numbers, and the information website.
With these changes, the Torrevieja City Council is taking another step toward implementing the new public transportation contract. The main goal of the project is to create a more modern, accessible, and efficient network—one that addresses the challenges posed by significant population growth and improves the quality of life in the municipality through better mobility.
