Modern parking lot at Torrevieja port open to residents and tourists
After a year and a half of modernization work, the upgraded Paseo del Mar parking lot at the Port of Torrevieja has officially opened. The facility, which is modern and fully accessible, offers 640 parking spaces, including 18 equipped with 22 kW electric vehicle chargers, as well as specially adapted spaces for people with limited mobility.
The parking lot is the first phase of a broader plan to transform the waterfront into a new recreational and service space. In addition to the standard spaces, 2 stalls have been made available, combining facilities for people with disabilities with the ability to charge electric cars.
The entire facility has been equipped with an intelligent license plate recognition system, which eliminates the need for traditional tickets and significantly speeds up entry and exit. There are already 7 entrances and 1 elevator for pedestrians, with plans to open 2 more entrances and install 4 additional elevators in the coming months.
The open parking lot is also part of Telpark's strategy to create functional and environmentally friendly parking spaces throughout Spain. In support of the local economy, 6,000 vouchers allowing free 30-minute parking were also donated - they went to local businesses and the food service industry through the APYMECO and the Association of Gastronomy of Torrevieja and the Surrounding Areas organizations.
Following the opening ceremony, event attendees visited the construction site of the new Paseo del Mar Entertainment Center, which is expected to be completed later in 2025. The project involves the creation of a modern public space connecting the port to the city via new pedestrian routes, including a planned seafront footbridge directly connecting the Dique de Levante pier to the center.
The new infrastructure is not only an amenity for motorists, but also a clear step toward sustainable mobility and enhancing the quality of life in Torrevieja - for both residents and visitors to this coastal city.
