Torrevieja through the eyes of artists - Plein Air Painting Contest

on May 24, 2025, Paseo Vista Alegre in Torrevieja turned into a large, colorful open-air gallery. All thanks to the First Plein Air Painting Competition, organized by the artists' group “Grupo Arte Torrevieja,” which attracted as many as 36 artists from 14 countries. The theme of the event was “Traditions of Torrevieja,” and participants had only a few hours to create their work - as befits a quick painting contest.

Among the participants there were also Polish accents. The competition was attended by Mrs. Halina Mastrzykowska, as well as the entire artistic family of Mr. and Mrs. Och: Mrs. Malgorzata, her husband João and sons Dominik and Sergio. The presence of Polish artists was warmly welcomed and was clearly noticeable among the gathered works.

A professional jury selected three winners:

• 1st place (€400) - Lola Clement Alonso from Elche (prize sponsored by MLS Asivega)
• Second place (€300) - Vladyslava Rodiukova from Torrevieja (Alalba Interiorismo)
• Third place (€200) - Antonio Gomis from Elche (Street Laundry Torrevieja)

In addition, up to 14 prizes, donated by local sponsors, were drawn among the remaining participants - a full list of them is available on Grupo Arte Torrevieja's official Facebook profile.

The award ceremony was held in the elegant interiors of the Real Club Náutico Torrevieja, where a post-competition exhibition of all the works was also on display.

Although this was the first competition of its kind in the history of Grupo Arte Torrevieja, both the number of participants and the audience's reaction make us optimistic about the future. The organizers are already announcing the next edition in 2026 - and we look forward to seeing new works inspired by the spirit of Torrevieja!
