Torrevieja presents “5K steps that count Quirónsalud” charity run to benefit Afecáncer

The Quirónsalud Torrevieja Hospital presented the “5K steps that count” Charity Run today at Torrevieja City Hall, an event that is part of the facility's 25th anniversary celebration program. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the local AFECÁNCER association, which supports cancer patients and their loved ones in Torrevieja.

The run will take place on Sunday, May 25 at 9:00 am at the Parque de las Naciones in Torrevieja. The event includes a variety of activities suitable for all ages: a 5-kilometer run, Nordic walking, children's runs and additional family activities.

This charitable event is organized in cooperation with Torrevieja City Hall, through the sports and health departments, and with the support of the Torrevieja Athletic Club and the Brotons Group.

In addition, the participation packs will be prepared in cooperation with the ADIEM Torrevieja association, which works for the social and professional integration of people with mental health problems. The participation of this organization underscores the solidarity and inclusion nature of the event, reinforcing a shared commitment to an important cause and promoting the value of cooperation in the local community.

Sports and family day

In addition to the run itself, the event will be a true celebration of solidarity with a rich program of accompanying activities:

• Zumba with Javi Jodani, a well-known local instructor, who will get participants moving with an open dance session.
• Live Concert by the Instinto Primate band will provide music throughout the morning.
• Workshops and activities for children throughout the event - in a safe and friendly environment.
• Café and Lounge Area for participants and families.
• Dorsal 0 available on the sign-up page - for those who can't attend but want to support the initiative.

Running of the race and attractions

09:00 a.m. - Collection of starting numbers for adults: Participants pick up their numbers at the designated area. It is recommended to arrive early to avoid queues.

10:00 a.m. - Start of the main 5K: 5 km run. There will be checkpoints along the route to ensure the safety of the runners, operated by the Torrevieja Athletic Club.

11:00 a.m. - Start of Nordic walking: For participants who prefer walking. Open and inclusive formula for all.

11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Concert by Instinto Primate band: live music to make the time pleasant for all participants.

11:15 a.m. - Award presentation of the 5K run: Honoring the winners.

11:30 a.m. - Children's Number Pickup: Young participants pick up their starting numbers.

12:00 p.m. - Start of children's runs (inside the park):

• SUB4 (up to 3 years, mixed) - 50m
• SUB6 (4-5 years, mixed) - 50m
• SUB8 (6-7 years old, girls and boys separately) - 100m
• SUB10 (8-9 years old) - 600m
• SUB12 (10-11 years old) - 600m
• SUB14 (12-13 years old) - 1200 m Age-appropriate runs in a safe, fenced area of the park.

12:30 p.m. - Children's prize presentation: prizes for the youngest participants.

10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. - Children's Animation: Games and workshops for children in the play area.

12:30 p.m. - 01:00 p.m. - Zumba session at the end: An open dance and movement class for all who are interested - an energetic and joyful end to the day.

An event to be remembered - as part of the hospital's 25th anniversary

The charity run is part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Hospital Quirónsalud Torrevieja. The anniversary highlights the facility's close ties with the community and its commitment to promoting health, solidarity and a healthy lifestyle. Throughout the year, the hospital will hold various events: exhibitions, podcasts, commemorative mosaics, and a grand finale event in October.
