Torrevieja celebrates the 10th edition of “International Tapas Day”: exquisite cuisine in miniature for just €3.50
On Saturday, September 26, 2026, the coastal town of Torrevieja on Spain’s Costa Blanca will become the capital of Mediterranean flavors. That’s when the anniversary 10th edition of Torrevieja International Tapas Day will take place—one of the most anticipated culinary events in the region, attracting both locals and crowds of international visitors every year.
The event is organized by the Association of Hotel and Restaurant Industry Entrepreneurs in Torrevieja and the Surrounding Area (AEHTC), in collaboration with the City of Torrevieja, under the patronage of Costa Blanca, and L’Exquisit Mediterrani, a brand promoting the gastronomy of the Valencia region. The aim of the event is to promote local culinary artistry, the creativity of chefs, and the richness of Mediterranean ingredients.
A tapa and drink combo for €3.50, featuring tuna as the star of the show
The rules are simple: at each participating restaurant, you can order a signature appetizer (tapa) paired with a drink (beer, wine, soda, or water) at a fixed, affordable price of €3.50.
In this year’s edition, the Makro chain became the official partner and supplier of the event, which inspired the chefs to create a special menu item: “Tapa Makro”. In this category, tuna has become the undisputed star. Participants will sample it in a variety of forms—from classic tatars and exquisite tartares, through innovative toasts and crispy pastries, all the way to traditional fish stews and Latin American tequeños.
In addition to the official tuna appetizer, each restaurant has also prepared a second, signature house tapa. Guests can look forward to, among other things, traditional Spanish rice dishes (arroz a banda, arroz del señoret), seafood, roasted meats, and vegetables from local farms in Vega Baja served with romesco sauce.
Culinary Trail: Torrevieja, La Mata, and Ciudad Quesada
11 renowned restaurants participated in the tenth edition, creating a diverse culinary trail:
- Seaside promenades: venues with ocean views, such as Bianco Sea Club on Paseo Vistalegre, La Cantina Food & Drinks on Paseo Juan Aparicio, and restaurants on Avenida Desiderio Rodríguez (Luna Creciente Gastrobar and Restaurante Martini's).
- Torrevieja City Center: lively spots in the heart of the city, including El Teatro Food & Coffee (Plaza Miguel Hernández), Güest Restaurante Gastrobar (Calle del Mar), Jax Torrevieja (Calle La Loma), and Hostal/Restaurante HB Torrevieja.
- La Mata and the surrounding area: For those who appreciate the intimate atmosphere of a traditional fishing village, we recommend Restaurante El Rincón and Foodline La Mata, as well as a visit to Restaurante Botánico in Ciudad Quesada (Rojales).
Prize Drawings for Guests
