Streets in downtown Santa Pola are adjusting traffic to the summer schedule
With the arrival of summer, certain sections of streets in the city center will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. (Monday through Saturday), while on Sundays and holidays, this area will be completely closed to traffic around the clock. Additionally, on Saturdays, the no-entry restriction will also apply to Muelle and Cervantes streets.
The Department of Public Safety and Police in Santa Pola has implemented standard changes to traffic management in the city center for the summer season. The new rules will remain in effect until September 15.
From Monday through Saturday, vehicles will be prohibited from traveling between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. On Sundays, public holidays, and during certain public events (with prior notice), traffic will be completely suspended for 24 hours, and the designated area will become a pedestrian-only zone.
List of Closed Sections
The locations where traffic will be closed during the designated hours include:
- Almirante Antequera Street: the section between Sacramento Street and Muelle Street.
- Glorieta Square (Plaza de la Glorieta).
- Elche Street: on the section between Glorieta Square and Marqués de Molins Street.
- Dean Llópez Street: the section between Cruz Street and MarÃa López Street.

In addition, del Muelle Street and Cervantes Street (between Sacramento Street and Muelle Street) will also be closed to traffic 24 hours a day every Saturday.
The inner section running along the front facade of the Castle (Castillo) and the central part of Glorieta Square will be completely closed to vehicular traffic. Only public utility vehicles and those that obtain a one-time, explicit permit from law enforcement will be allowed to use this section. Drivers who ignore this ban will face fines.
Garage Entrance Users (Vados)
Owners of private driveways and parking spaces (so-called vados) will retain the right to access their garages during the hours when restrictions are in effect, provided that their driveways are located in zones subject to traffic and parking bans. However, these drivers must take special precautions when driving on closed roads.
With the exception of authorized public service vehicles and the aforementioned garage owners, entry and parking are strictly prohibited in the designated area (unless a special permit has been obtained from the relevant authorities).
All other private users, suppliers, or couriers who enter the restricted zone without explicit permission from the police will be subject to penalties. Deliveries and other necessary trips must be scheduled during the hours when traffic is permitted—that is, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
