Joint Operation by the Local Police and the Guardia Civil in Orihuela Costa: Four Arrested and a Hostage Freed

The Orihuela Local Police (Policía Local) and the Guardia Civil conducted a joint operation on Monday evening, September 7, at a venue in Orihuela Costa. The operation led to the rescue of a person being held against their will and the arrest of four men.

Course of the Intervention

The operation began after an urgent report was received about a man trapped inside a building who had been beaten and threatened. Reports indicated that the assailants might be armed with firearms. Given the seriousness of the situation, Local Police patrols were immediately dispatched to the scene, supported by the Guardia Civil.

While some officers secured the area around the building, the others entered the building in response to an immediate threat to the victim’s life. Inside, the victim was found with numerous injuries, and the perpetrators were identified, allowing for the hostage to be safely freed. The man was immediately transported to a medical facility to receive medical attention.

Charges Against Those Arrested

As a result of the operation, four men were arrested and will face trial for the following offenses:

• Bodily injury.
• Threats involving firearms.
• Unlawful deprivation of liberty.
• Crimes against public health (related to drug trafficking).

Secured Evidence

During a search of the premises, officers seized a significant quantity of illegal items and substances. The evidence secured includes:

• Weapons: Firearms, ammunition, and rounds.
• Drugs: Marijuana, hashish, cocaine, products containing THC, and various types of resins.
• Distribution equipment: Precision scales and other accessories used for portioning and distributing controlled substances.

The patrol and operational activities of the Orihuela Local Police and the Guardia Civil were characterized by close coordination both during the siege itself and in the subsequent procedures. The authorities have already launched the appropriate investigation and are continuing the legal proceedings resulting from the incident described.
