The year 2025 will be special for Poland internationally, as our country will assume the presidency of the Council of the European Union. It is also the year of the eleventh edition of the CinePOLSKA festival, the flagship project of the Polish Institute in Madrid, which for years has been bringing Polish cinema to Spanish audiences.
Unique platform for Polish cinema
CinePOLSKA is an event that is highly regarded by Spanish audiences and film critics alike. What sets this festival apart? All the films presented have their premieres in Spain - they have not been previously distributed in the local market, which makes the event even more special. Since its inception, the project has been developing in cooperation with Filmoteka España and its regional branches, and over the years it has gathered a multitude of loyal viewers in love with Polish cinema.
Topics CinePOLSKA 2025: Women in Polish cinema
This year's edition of the festival will have a special character. As part of the celebration of the Polish presidency of the EU Council, the organizers have decided to devote attention to women in Polish cinema. The program will include the latest productions created by talented Polish female directors - both debutants and filmmakers with an established position in the film world.
The festival will not be limited to film screenings. Audiences will be able to attend meetings with female directors and accompanying events that will address important social issues, such as:
- Integrating people with cerebral palsy into society,
- The value of long-term relationships in today's world,
- Acceptance of old age and gender identity.
Cities and show dates
CinePOLSKA 2025 will reach eight Spanish cities, allowing the general public to experience Polish cinema: Madrid (March 3-18), Murcia (as part of the Polish Week at the University of Murcia), Granada, Pamplona, Valencia, Zaragoza, Córdoba, and Santander.
CinePOLSKA - a success story
The festival has a rich tradition - the previous editions in 2019-2022 were very popular. Thanks to the commitment of organizers such as the Polish Institute in Madrid, the Polish Film Institute and the production company MAÑANA, CinePOLSKA has become one of the most important events promoting Polish film culture abroad.
Thanks to the support of many public and private institutions, this year's edition will achieve even greater reach and significance. This is a unique opportunity to see on the big screen films that have not been available in Spanish cinemas so far, and at the same time get to know more about contemporary Polish cinema and its creators.
